B-1 Visa/Status – Temporary Visitors for Business
The B-1 classification is appropriate for those seeking entry to the United States to engage in temporary, business-related activities. Permissible business activities include conventions, conferences, consultations, and other legitimate commercial and professional activities. Persons who are employed by a foreign company and must conduct qualifying business in the U.S. may seek B-1 Visa/Status.
Basic Requirements:
B-1 Visa/Status is available for visitors intending to visit the United States for a short time to engage in legitimate business activities for the benefit of a foreign employer. These activities may include: solicitation of sales, negotiation of contracts, taking orders, procuring goods, providing service and sales, and consulting or training U.S.-based parties.
Individuals in B-1 status may not obtain employment in the United States.
The individual must also be entering for a limited duration, intend to depart prior to the expiration of status, maintain a foreign residence, and have adequate financial arrangements.
